Pilates Exercise of the Month: The Boomerang



Begin sitting, legs extended and cross your right ankle over the left. Fold forward over your legs and reach your arms towards your feet. Inhale to roll spine into the mat, lifting your legs simultaneously. Exhale to roll legs overhead, and inhale to switch the crossing of the legs. Exhale to articulate spine up into a Teaser position. Inhale to reach your arms back, interlacing your fingers and reaching your hands upward, drawing the abdominals in and up. Exhale lower the legs with control, release your hands and circle them back to the starting position. Perform 2 complete sets.

The muscle focus and objectives for this exercise are: abdominals and back extensors strength, hip flexor control, spinal articulation and focusing on fluidity of the movement.
