Paschimottanasana, the seated forward bend, is the fifth of the 12 basic postures of hatha yoga. A Yoga asana (posture) in which the practitioner one sits on the mat, legs stretched straight out. You then bend forward from the waist and try to touch your toes without arching your back. If you can't reach your toes, it's enough to touch your ankles or even knees in the beginning. But resist the urge to arch your back.
