INTRO: This is a brilliant upper body strengthening exercise which will also help tone the arms.

TRANSCRIPT:
Our Allegro Reformer classes are brilliant for working out the entire body, okay, now one thing most people commonly need to work is the upper back, so in between the shoulder blades.

Why? Because they’re constantly bending for grabbing things, or sitting at the computers typing, and getting very tight and rounded through the upper body.

Okay, so what we want to do is work through the rhomboids area, working the lats which were down that, and opening up through the chest.

So this exercise I’m going to show you the brilliant one for doing that, it will also really help to tone the arms and to strengthen the arms, it’s called Chariots.

Now you can either do this one sitting on your bottom, on your knees, or you can do it sitting up from your bottom which makes it harder against your core work a lot stronger.

You really need is to prepare, exhale keep to pull your hands just past your hips, inhale to return, exhale engaging your core, squeezing the side of your shoulder blades, breathe in.

So you always have to make sure that your shoulder blades are squeezing towards each other, and down back, reaching on through your fingers, inhale return.

So generally I would say you do 15 of these, then you rotate your palms to face in to each other to do another 15.

So I’ll go for 15 today, I just want to show you so that you can get an idea what it is that we do in these classes, and how fit the exercises on these machine can be for you.

The next position is rotating your palms to the front, exactly the same movement, the rotation of the arms slightly works different muscles through the arms.

So you’re guaranteed to work your triceps and your rhomboids, relax those muscles, needs all muscles which will help with your upper back posture.

So the farther you can push back the better it is, but obviously by maintaining a nice neutral spine, a relax shoulders, and a strong core to keep that moving.

So that’s a nice exercise to do, but very very effective and one of our favorites to give to people.
